Abstract

The conflict in Ukraine and the consequent massive outflow of people seeking refuge have marked a turning point in the refugee reception processes in Europe, highlighting the speed and efficiency with which these were carried out. Spain, one of the receiving countries, implemented an agile system for reception, relocating more than 6 million displaced persons (Eurostat, 2023) in various areas of the territory. This research, with a qualitative approach, explores the discourses of Spanish teachers who teach Ukrainian refugees, as well as the experiences and perceptions of the refugees themselves in relation to language learning in different contexts in Spain. The study focuses on personal satisfaction and fulfillment derived from the process of teaching and learning Spanish, understood as a key factor for social integration. The results provide valuable information for the design of future language teaching strategies in the context of the reception of refugees and forced migrants.
