Educational innovation for the development of emotional competences in future teachers
Main Article Content
Abstract
Emotional problems such as anxiety, depression, stress and somatisation have increased worryingly among young people. Therefore, it makes sense to implement initiatives to help students to better understand emotional states and offer them resources to manage these types of difficulties. This project aimed to promote emotional regulation in students of the Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education. The most relevant topics and contents of the Teaching Guides related to emotional competences were selected and theoretical and practical activities related to this topic were designed. The results showed a development of emotional awareness in the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. In the case of Primary Education students, the emotional intelligence skills, although they showed differences between the pre-test and post-test, were only significant in the emotional attention variable in the female group. Although the project met its objectives and had a positive impact on the teaching staff involved, it is essential to continue replicating projects such as this one, which promote the development of emotional competences in students of educational sciences.
