Abstract

The COVID 19 pandemic left the MICE tourism sector with a degree of vulnerability, which at the time was worthy of study, hence various studies emerged regarding resilience to face the adversity of imminent threats. The objective of this article was to analyze the influence of vulnerability on the resilience of MICE tourism to COVID-19. Using a quantitative methodology, a survey was applied to 385 MICE tourism actors in Los Cabos, Baja California, a destination in Mexico that at the time was highly affected in terms of employment and the economy. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the research hypothesis. The results show that vulnerability has a significant, positive, and moderate influence on resilience, as well as a significant effect on stability, recovery, and transformation. Therefore, resilience is a quality that arises when there is a situation that produces risk, uncertainty, and disruption. It concludes by confirming that resilience allows us to cushion damage, return to the original state and take advantage of opportunities for reconfiguration in the face of any crisis.
