Abstract

This article deals with the construction history of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (1879-1887), with special attention to the project of the monumental statue that crowns its bell tower (1924-1931). The primary source of the study is the Bollettino Salesiano of the period, in relation to the material preserved in the archives and based on a bibliographical state of the art. The aim of the research is to propose a new approach to the first church of the Salesian Congregation in Rome.
