Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse the treatment of the corpse, and its fragments, in the photographic production of Joel-Peter Witkin.  Establishing lines of connection with the Plastic Arts of the Past and reflecting on the contributions made to the theme of Memento Mori and the Vanitas from a contemporary perspective.
