Abstract

The architecture of patrimonial value, as an act of indisputable permanence in time, has the particularity of being the faithful reflection of human thought and the passage of its historical memory from generation to generation. The Cathedral of Cartagena de Indias, a fundamental piece in the processes of the colonization of souls in viceregal times, has witnessed many events, being in turn the object of multiple transformations that have been the imprint of old times and that have characterized its evolutionary process. according to the dynamics of the city. In this article we show that process and the modifications that have contributed, not only to its architecture, but also to the social construct and the historical memory that it represents for all Cartagena and Colombia in general.
