New considerations about the intervention of José Benito de Churriguera in the Santo Domingo’s monastery (Madrid)

Abstract

 This article try to analize several documents about the involvement of José Benito de Churriguera in the church of the monastery of Santo Tomás de Aquino (Madrid). This work of Churriguera was already known in the 19th. In 1929, García Bellido confirmed the his intervention giving the signature of certain documents located in the Archivo Histórico Nacional. However, it will be in 1975 when Virginia Tovar published new information about this intervention from the Archivo Histórico de Protocolos de Madrid. Being aware of the importance of this work, some of these documents are going to be analized in order to provide scientific comunity with new considerations about. This dominican monastery, one of the most important religious buildings in Madrid, was part of the court from the 16th century until its demolition in 1876.
