Architecture on screen: an analysis of its visibility in the film magazine Imágenes (1945–1968)

Abstract
The informational and cinematographic infrastructure of Franco’s regime was primarily centered around the Newsreel and Cinematographic Documentaries (Noticiarios y Documentales NO-DO), whose mandatory production and screening lasted for over thirty years. This institution also enabled the creation of other audiovisual programs and documentaries that, unlike NO-DO, were not subject to compulsory exhibition. Among them, the magazine Imágenes, launched in 1945, stands out. From the wide range of topics it addressed, this article focuses on a specific one: architecture. An analysis is proposed of those editions that treat architecture as a prominent issue, focusing both on its representation and its discursive function within the context of the regime.
