Abstract

This study analyses the figure of the fourteenth-century Jewish writer Pedro Ferruz, especially his satire against Pedro López de Ayala, written because of some verses of the Rimado de Palacio in which the latter called the novels of chivalry "proven lies and enchanted mockery". I also analyse the real scope of his attack on the powerful Chancellor of Castile in two dezires, the second of which has gone completely unnoticed by critics. And I discover the political and religious reasons and the estates' origins of his invective against López de Ayala.
