Abstract

TikTok is the most popular social network among teenagers in Spain, positioning itself as a key platform for the representation and acceptance of diverse realities. This study analyses the content of eleven LGTB+ referents with the greatest reach on TikTok Spain, using a qualitative approach and the technique of content analysis. The results show a diverse and positive representation, where the referents address issues that promote the inclusion and visibility of non-normative sexualities. Despite this, stereotypes are also occasionally observed, which are often challenged by the creators themselves. In conclusion, TikTok consolidates itself as a generally safe space for the LGTB+ community and underlines the potential of social media referrers as agents of positive change in promoting more inclusive and understanding societies.
