Abstract

The town of Cerro de San Pedro, located 31 kilometers from the capital of the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, was founded in 1592 with the purpose of contributing to the extraction of ore from deposits rich in gold and silver. Throughout its history, the mining activity of this town has experienced periods of bonanza, but it has also been the target of attacks by activists, which has led the companies that have managed it to develop closure plans that began to be applied in 2020. As part of this closure strategy, the design and inauguration of a Museum of Rocks and Minerals, enriched through donations with specimens from all over the Republic, were some of the actions implemented for the inhabitants to establish new ways of working. The Cerro de San Pedro, which shows historical monuments in its architecture and landscapes, receives up to 5000 visitors on symbolic dates, and due to its archaeological constitution, the presence of tourism is important the rest of the year; however, attendance at the museum is very low or even non-existent. This document supports a proposal to implement a technological strategy that transforms the design of the museum into an interactive environment through a technological development of innovation, to increase visits. The methodology is based on the relationship of functionality for the construction of a prototype in which the fields of electronics and mechatronics are present through applications and the search for visitors to the museum by having an attractive element; The partial result is presented in a prototype and the record of primary perceptions of some visitors with whom communication was had in situ. The continuity identified, as a new line of study, is based on the acceptance of the proposed strategy based on the measurement of influx.
