Abstract

This article presents some reflections on the academic and affectionate tribute to Professor Pedro Poyato on the occasion of his retirement, in the tenth issue of the journal SERIARTE. It highlights Poyato’s importance as a teacher, researcher, and mentor in film studies, especially within the fields of Art History and the Humanities. It emphasizes his conception of cinema as a space for thought and as a language in constant dialogue with other arts, such as painting, literature, photography, architecture, and theatre. The monographic issue brings together colleagues, friends, disciples, and researchers from different generations who acknowledge his intellectual and human influence. The contributions included address topics linked to his main lines of research: Buñuel, Almodóvar, the relationships between cinema and the visual arts, adaptation, intertextuality, genres, television fiction, discourses of reality, and the representation of spaces and bodies. The text stresses the methodological dimension of Poyato’s legacy, centred on the formal analysis of images, as well as his ethics as a teacher. Finally, it expresses gratitude to those who take part in the tribute and presents the volume as a space of admiration, dialogue, and shared memory.
