Bioeconomy ecosystem in Argentina: Rosario city experience

Abstract
Argentina has a great potential for the bioeconomy for adoption of a bioeconomy based strategy represents because it has a opportunity to take up the growth pattern, while increasing the efficiency and sustainability of its productive sectors.
Although this country has a long history on the subject, there are still some challenges to be resolved. That’s why, in order to support the formation of technical capacities that allow the design of bioeconomy policies and investments projects, the argentine Ministry of Education and IICA joined to dictate an international postgraduate course in "Bioeconomy for Agroindustry and Rural Territories: good practices and lessons”. The course concluded with a field-based study at Rosario city, one of the most important bioeconomic innovation poles in the Americas.
In this article, it is intended to deepen the analysis of the Argentinian bio ecosystem, with a focus on Rosario's experience, to finally point out the bioeconomy challenges and opportunities in the region.
