Abstract

In this study we discuss the concept of «homonormativity» and the configuration of a hegemonic discourse on the LGBT+ community from the West that surreptitiously hides different minorities within it. Based on these premises, we will examine the discourses that are portrayed in mass media in an attempt to understand how homonormativity behaves and how it permeates all society through the reproduction of its rules in a globalized world through translation. Finding disguised neoimperialist discourses in the different transnational communication routes will be essential to understand the controversial and unstable nature of a shifting identity that is shaped according to the forces and pressures of the ruling power, and also to uncover the participation of the translator as an actor that may contribute to dismantling the current dominant normative LGBT+ profile.
