Bilingual and multilingual resources in the tourism domain Comparative study for translation purposes

Abstract
Phraseological competence is essential for the translator in the tourism domain. Therefore, terminographic resources specialised in this field, containing phraseological information, can be of great help to the translator. However, there are not many bilingual or multilingual dictionaries or knowledge bases specialised in tourism. The aim of this research is to describe and compare four terminographic resources that include terminology from the domain of leisure tourism in their entries, in order to assist the translator or interpreter in their work of documentation and extraction of phraseological information for the English-Spanish combination. More specifically, the following resources have been analysed: the Diccionario de términos de turismo y de ocio (Inglés-Español, Spanish-English) (Alcaraz‑Varó et al., 2006), DicoAdventure (Durán-Muñoz, 2022), IATE and TERMIUM Plus. The results show that the resources analysed tend to include not only nominal units, but also verbal and phraseological units in their entries, something very positive that facilitates the search for translators and interpreters. However, the number of entries dedicated to leisure tourism is still limited in many resources, and there is often no systematisation in the treatment of translation equivalents.
