A philosophical-literary circle in the late 17th century in England: selected texts

Abstract
This paper tries to analyse the activity of the intellectual work in which Mary Astell was in; this group used to be composed by some women poets, that studied also Medicine or Language, as it may the case of some women such as Lady Mary Chudley, Elizabeth Thomas, Judith Drake, Elizabeth Elstob and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. In addition, we will try to study the figure of the philosopher and clergyman, John Norris; he is one of the members of the group, who had a very important correspondence with Mary Astell. Furthermore, we will study each member of this group, by means of the analysis of part of his works, in most of the cases a representative poem.
