Abstract

In this paper I give an account of my travels through a number of countries and a wide variety of peoples in the world, mostly from Africa, the Philippines, Asia, Central Pacific, Central America including México and South America. My experience with those distinct peoples have contributed to my current view where I stress the important role played by anthropology. Cultural knowledge as much as linguistic knowledge is a must in all studies and discussions on translation. In my long experience throughout the world this is my deepest convinction.
