Abstract

In this short note I comment on the imitation made by the English poet Abraham Cowley (1618-1667) on the Latin poem Senex Veronesis by Claudiano. Cowley makes a moralist interpretation of the issue of happmess and covetousness from a 'conceptual’ style where wordplay accomplishes an important role.
