In the dungeon of Bethar: una autotraducción del inglés al árabe
Main Article Content
Abstract
This is an analysis of a self-translation of an English poem into Arabic done by the Libanese writer Mījá'īl Na'īmī. The focus of this study is laid on the strophic and prosodic aspects in order to demónstrate that re-writing seeks to adapt the text to the Arabic cultural environment in agreement with the “revolutionary criteria” as set by Na'īmī put in the realm of Arabic poetry. The verse analysis in tum of the expansions, reelaborations, substitutions and other form and contení resources used by the author- translator has the aim both for redefining the content and for achieving the strophic-metric adaptation.
