Impact of Open Educational Resources on Computer Science Teacher Education at UAPA

Abstract
This study analyses the impact of Open Educational Resources (OER) on the learning process of the course Foundations and Characteristics of the Dominican Curriculum, taught in the Teacher Certification Program in Informatics at the Universidad Abierta para Adultos (UAPA). The research aims to evaluate the contribution of OER to the development of learner autonomy, access to updated materials, and the perception of their pedagogical usefulness. A mixed-method approach was used, with a cross-sectional and descriptive design, applying a survey to 53 participants during the April–June and August–September 2024 terms. The results show a positive perception of OER in the understanding of the curriculum and in the overall learning experience, although limitations related to connectivity and time availability persist. Additionally, it was identified that the planned integration of digital resources promotes active participation, self-regulated learning, and the development of technological competencies among pre-service teachers. It is concluded that OER strengthen educational quality and equity when they are integrated in a planned, contextualized manner and aligned with the needs of the Dominican curriculum and the current educational context, with emphasis on pedagogical innovation and the appropriate use of contemporary educational technology.
