Multidimensional Security and Tourism Competitiveness in Peru: A Necessary Relationship

Tourism is an important activity for a country’s economy specially for its positive impact in reducing poverty. But, in some point, to achieve high standards, sustainability and increase competitiveness, it requires conditions that only can be assured by other sectors. Indeed, despite the technical assistances and investments in infrastructure and promotion made by tourism sector, tourism competitiveness in Perú slowed down during 2019. The present paper looks forward to showing the relationship between competitiveness and multidimensional security. For that purpose, scientific papers, statistics, and sectorial information, from the last three years before the pandemic, has been revised. The study concluded that it is necessary to ameliorate multidimensional security in order increase competitiveness.
