Legal Clinics in the integral education of the student

Abstract

This work concludes the importance of the figure of Legal Clinics in the acquisition of specific competencies by university students. If "The spirit of the University Social Clinics is none other than to contribute to social and economic progress by creating a fairer and more equitable society, constituting itself as an instrument of University Social Responsibility and continuous improvement of quality in teaching practice", obviously carrying out internships in the Clinics, will allow them to get into the role of the jurist in scenarios and real clients with issues related to social injustice. Indeed, if we take into account that the main reason for existence of Legal Clinics is to provide a service to the community and society, through these institutions, students will learn to be responsible, to actively participate in a democratic society. and to become aware of the social reality in which they live. But, in addition, with the figure of the Legal Clinic we are, on the one hand, facing a different and innovative model of teaching/learning, since they are a way of developing Service Learning (SL), and on the other, they become one of the ways in which the University exercises its Social Responsibility.
