Abstract

The present study compares the two translations of the chapter on prostitution from The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and its original French text to attest the controversial changes in its complete first English version and their effects. Thus we conduct a translation analysis based on the description of the agents involved in the translation assigment as well as on statements by philosohers such as Moi (2002). We also focus on the microtextual aspect of a brief corpus which has not been studied in depth from this bidimensional perspective (process/product).
