he Poetic Staging in the Translations of Heinrich Heine's Poem “Ein Fichtenbaum steht einsam”
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present article is an interdisciplinary study at the crossroads of translation studies, semiotics, and phenomenology. Our objective is to analyze the semic manifestations of functional equivalence and the semantic invariant of the source text, as well as the possible connotative modifications during the translation that highlight the dialectical nature of the three-dimensional translation model based on the unity of the individual, the national, and the universal. This dialectical unity is determined by various pragmalinguistic factors that influence the process of intercultural aesthetic communication in a new linguistic, cultural, and psychological context.
The corpus of analysis consists of French, Armenian, Russian and Spanish translations of Heinrich Heine's Ein Fichtenbaum steht einsam poem. The method focuses on the construction of isotopic axes through the identification of related semes. The polyvalence of the images, fueled by a tone that is both sober and exquisite, is susceptible to an infinite production of meanings thanks to the archetypal image of the Solitary Tree, which evokes the motif of solitude functioning as a pragmasemantic invariant. What is not said in the source text is "completed" by the translators, who create a new staging according to the context of personal or national reception. In our study, we have adopted an approach that starts with the analysis of the semantic architecture of the original text, attempting to reveal the presence of poetized matrix images that are dispersed in the fabric of the original and target poetic texts. Our study permits us to conclude that poetic translation is a re-creation that manifests through chains of semantic isotopies. It can be perceived as a kind of poetic staging of the source text in a new spatio-temporal and cultural framework, revealing itself as a dynamic process that is carried out according to the three-dimensional dialectical unity translation model.
