Los poetas lakistas y la traducción en Portugal
Main Article Content
Abstract
Portuguese literary writers became interested in the English literature of transition to Romanticism at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century. As a result of this interest several translations of the poetry of Thomas Gray, Edward Young, John Milton, James Thomson and Oliver Goldsmith, and James Hervey's poetic prose, all of them members of the "Graveyard School". In this paper we will pay special attention to two of them by Alexandre Herculano and Soares de Passos: “A Noiva do Sepulcro” and “O Noivado do Sepulcro” together with their respective Spanish translation.
