Focus and Scope 

HIKMA: Revista de Traducción is an international, biannual, open-access journal, published by UCOPress: Cordoba University Press. Its thematic focus revolves around translation and interpreting in all aspects, encompassing methodological innovations, contrastive studies, multicultural spaces, and the creation or revision of translation tools and resources. The journal spans various topics, including humanistic-literary, legal-economic, scientific-technical, and other specialised fields. 

HIKMA was founded in 2002 and publishes original articles in English, Spanish, French, and Italian on empirical scientific research within the field of Translation and Interpretation. The journal aims to promote academic exchange among researchers in the international scientific community through the publication of high-quality research. Since 2017, the journal has refined its disciplinary focus to exclusively cover the field of Translation and Interpreting. 

To ensure the originality and scientific excellence of published articles, a rigorous anonymous peer-review process is conducted by at least two experts from the journal's international community of disciplinary specialists. 

Publication Frequency 

HIKMA accepts submissions on an ongoing basis, with the exception of extraordinary circumstances, which will be explicitly stated in the Notice section. The journal releases two issues each year, in May and December.

It has obtained the FECYT Seal of Quality for Spanish scientific journals in 2025. It is included in the EA2004-0059 project of the General Directorate of Universities for Citations Analysis from Journals rated highly by peers and listed in the Open Policy Finder, DOAJ, EBSCO, WORLDCAT, BITRA, RETI catalogues, ASN (Italian National Scientific Qualification, V Quarter ASN 2023-2025), and ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research, list of journals: Class A for the Competitive Sectors of Area 10). 

Peer-review evaluation process

The journal publishes original works of high scientific level, , whose acceptance is subject to a strict peer-review process. The editorial team, in accordance with the reports of the external reviewers, will decide whether to accept the submissions and the volume in which they will be published. Any manuscript that does not comply with these guidelines will be returned to its authors for revision; the authors will also be sent the reviewers’ comments—without any indication of authorship—so that they may improve the content of the papers prior to publication.

Open Access Policy and Reuse Policies

This journal provides free access to its content under the principle that research should be made freely available to the public, which encourages a greater global knowledge exchange.
Hikma follows the principles of the international movement. Where it is established that there is no technological and economic barrier to access the contents of the magazine. That is, guarantee the free, irrevocable and worldwide right to access information, as well as copy, use, distribute, transmit, display, make hard copies for personal use, make adaptations and rights as well as their respective distribution, with acknowledgements appropriate to authorship. In addition, it provides access to a full version of the document and its complementary materials with the indication of permission for its use in electronic format and its deposit in institutional, academic, or governmental repositories.

All publications in the Hikma: Revista de Traducción are disseminated under the Creative Commons' Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence.
