Focus and Scope 

HIKMA: Translation Journal is an international, biannual, open-access journal. Its thematic focus revolves around translation and interpretation in all aspects, encompassing methodological innovations, contrastive studies, multicultural spaces, and the creation or revision of translation tools and resources. The journal spans various specialisations, including humanistic-literary, legal-economic, scientific-technical, and other specialised fields. 

The journal of HIKMA: Translation Journal, established in 2002, publishes original articles in English, Spanish, French, and Italian on empirical scientific research within the field of Translation and Interpretation. The journal aims to promote academic exchange among researchers in the international scientific community through the publication of high-quality research. Since 2017, the journal has refined its disciplinary focus to exclusively cover the field of Translation and Interpreting. 

To ensure the originality and scientific excellence of published articles, a rigorous anonymous peer-review process is conducted by at least two experts from the journal's international community of disciplinary specialists. 

Publication Frequency 

HIKMA: Translation Journal accepts submissions on an ongoing basis, with the exception of extraordinary circumstances, which will be explicitly stated in the Notices section. The journal releases two issues each year, in May and December.

It is included in the EA2004-0059 project of the General Directorate of Universities for Citations Analysis from Journals rated highly by peers and listed in the EBSCO, REBIUN, WOLDCAT, BITRA, RETI catalogues, as well as in CBUC, ASN (Italian National Scientific Qualification, V Quarter ASN 2021-2023), and ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research, list of journals: Class A for the Competitive Sectors of Area 10). 

Open Access Policy 

This journal is published under an open-access policy with the aim of providing unrestricted public access to research and fostering global knowledge exchange.

All publications in the Hikma: Translation Journal are disseminated under a Creative Commons Attribution License.

Digital Archive Preservation Policy

Hikma: Translation Journal uses an archiving system through OJS (Open Journal System) to ensure its digital preservation.

This journal is part of the Public Knowledge Project’s Private LOCKSS Network (PKP-PLN), which establishes a decentralized archiving system distributed among collaborating libraries, aimed at creating permanent archives of the journal for the preservation of original content and its restoration if necessary. To achieve this, it keeps the PKP PN module activated (https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/en/). The updated list of journals preserved in PKP-PLN can be downloaded from the following link or by checking the archive status of the journal on the ISSN site.

Additionally, the University of Córdoba undertakes various processes to ensure permanent accessibility of the digital objects hosted on its servers:

• Backup copies.
• Technological environment monitoring to anticipate possible migrations of obsolete formats or software.
• Digital preservation metadata.
• Utilization of persistent identifiers: DOI and ORCID.

Interoperability protocols

This journal provides an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface that allows other portals and information services to access the metadata of published content.
