Duties of the editorial team
The Editorial Team of Hikma: Translation Journal consists of the Editors-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the Assistant Editors and Community Manager, an extensive and distinguished Scientific Advisory Committee, and the Reviews Coordinator.
Editors-in-Chief
The Editors-in-Chief represent the highest institutional authority within the journal. They chair the Editorial Board and are responsible for appointing or removing its members and members of the Scientific Advisory Board. Additionally, they oversee the delegation of responsibilities for both the Editorial Board and the Scientific Advisory Board and ultimately have the authority to approve or reject manuscript publications.
Their responsibilities include editorial content planning, and providing guidelines to authors regarding style and context for monographic issues and reviews. They also ensure the accuracy and integrity of information available on the journal's website, overseeing compliance with established guidelines during the review process and communication with authors.
Furthermore, the Editors-in-Chief are responsible for identifying, managing, and maintaining indexing databases and distribution lists for the journal.
Assistant Editors and Community Managers
The Assistant Editors assist the Editors-in-Chief in administrative tasks related to the journal, issuing certificates formally attesting to the authenticity of texts, assisting authors and reviewers during the editorial process, handling layout and formatting of journal issues, and promoting the journal and its articles on social media.
Editorial Board
The members of the Editorial Board are appointed and, where necessary, dismissed by the Editors-in-Chief. Their primary role is to provide scientific support for defining the content and style of Hikma: Translation Journal, establishing guidelines for manuscript submissions and designing each issue. They also oversee the proper reception, evaluation, and acceptance of submitted manuscripts.
Scientific Advisory Board
The Scientific Advisory Board assists the Editors-in-Chief in ensuring a high-quality and relevant publication. It consists of a group of internationally renowned researchers holding doctoral degrees in their respective fields. Together with the Editors-in-Chief, they conduct periodic evaluations of academic outcomes. Additionally, they offer scientific support to the Editorial Board, may act as high-level reviewers, and contribute to the journal’s international dissemination.
Reviews Coordinator
The Reviews Coordinator identifies relevant books or articles to be reviewed, finds potential reviewers, receives review proposals, and assigns them to suitable reviewers according to their expertise and specialisation. Additionally, this role oversees the review process, ensuring reviews are completed within established deadlines. Finally, the Reviews Coordinator reviews submissions to guarantee adherence to the journal's quality standards and editorial guidelines.
