Abstract

The translation of scientific reports in the Spanish press is an aspect of journalistic translation which has hardly been analysed. As a consequence there is no specific bibliography on this subject. These reports are, however, a genre which attracts a wide interest and contributes to the popularization and spreading of science and technology. The written media frequently publishes reports translated from foreign press. In this paper we look at translated reports that have appeared in Spanish newspapers. We focus on a specific case of a report translated in XLSemanal, where we analyse the devices used in the translation process of these journalistic texts from an interdisciplinary viewpoint which includes translatological, sociological and journalistic aspects.
