Abstract

In recent years, the agrifood sector has gained special relevance due to its strong linkages with numerous spheres of human activity including sociology, science, the environment, tourism, health, and the economy. The important role this sector plays in the economy is such that it is now considered one of the most predominant industries worldwide. Companies, the major drivers of commercial activity, not only seek to achieve financial gain, but also provide services and distribute products. Given that many of the companies in the agrifood sector are transnational, they often require the services of freelance and agency-based translation and interpretation professionals to achieve these objectives. Safeguarding brand image, promoting products and services or facilitating communication between suppliers and customers are all phases of marketing whose success largely depends on the work of translators and interpreters specialized in the agrifood field.
