Abstract

This study searched to analyze the reach of interlinguistic transfer during oral production from the learner’s metacognitive point of view. A quali-quantitive methodology was followed. An open questionnaire was applied to a sample of English and French students from an advanced level. Data generated the domains of perception of transfer: lexical-semantic, syntactic, pragmatic, communicative, among others. As a conclusion, knowledge transfer in languages is done at wider discourse domains in advanced levels. Transfer is accepted as a promoter of cognitive competences development through the application of higher order analytic thinking.
