Abstract

The mockumentary is a hybrid TV and cinema genre that combines communication codes and genres such as documentary, parody and deconstruction (Roscoe and Hight, 2001; Hight, 2010). To conduct this research, we select a corpus of movies: CSA (Kevin Willmott, 2004), Forgotten Silver (Peter Jackson and Costa Botes, 1995) and Dark Side of the Moon (William Karel, 2002) where we examine the different genre components and the cultural references (Dore, 2019; Ranzato, 2011; Werner, 2010) and the humour (Zabalbeascoa, 1996, 2012) all of them characteristics in these films in order to create a guide for translators when approaching these adaptations.
