Abstract

This paper discusses the role played by the English poets who lived in the first quarter of the 18th century, while it provides the readers with new and relevant discoveries that occur in the 17th century and where the importance of the role of scientists over that of philosophers is highlighted. These poets are the forerunners of the future "poetry of nature" that will undergo an unusual development reaching its highest point with the publication of the first of the first four Seasons, Winter by James Thomson.
