Abstract

J. G. Ballard's The Atrocity Exhibition was first published in English in 1970. Scarcely a year later, Marcelo Cohen and Francisco Abelenda presented their translation into Spanish, entitled La exhibición de atrocidades (Minotauro, 1971). In the present paper we take the chance to introduce this J. G. Ballard's work, pointing out some of the main themes and stylistic features and following not only the original text publishing history but also the Spanish one (the first and only translation into Spanish to date). The second part of this paper will be focus on the traductologycal analysis of four significative passages binomials from the first chapter of The Atrocity Exhibition.
