Abstract

The audiovisual productions that address the changing role of women in relation to fairy tales and princesses have exponentially increased in recent years. This study aims to approach Godmothered (Maguire, 2020) as an example of a feature film directed and starring women, in order to invite reflection on this subject from a didactic perspective. To carry out the analysis and pedagogical implementation, the criteria of the MusScreen Method are used, developed to create educational work based on audiovisual materials in Music Education classrooms. In this regard, strategies are generated to consider the musical elements in alignment with the other components. The study concludes by examining how, through the music embedded in the film, it is possible to ironize how the female role was conceived in the past, and to what extent its update relies on an open conception of society, where many different models (including musical ones) are possible.
