Abstract
In this time of constant changes, translation starts to see its horizons widen to leave place to new traductological conceptions. Instrument of social struggle, it makes it possible for many people to claim their rights by modelling specific words, sentences and whole texts. Charged with – new – signification, target texts make it possible to spread ideas and concepts coming more from the mediator himself than from the author. Great examples of this new way of translating are both gay and feminist translation, already well-known within the social mediation universe. Their main allies for achieving their equality aspirations are rewriting, reinterpretation and manipulation. Translation becomes, thus, a weapon against silence and the perpetuation of sexual domination, related both to gender and sexual choice. Luise Von Flotow gives her opinion in a personal interview.
