Cruzar la frontera: un acto de traducción

Abstract

Borders, although set up for dividing, end up being porous zones which allow influences to cross from one side into the other. This way, borders are a favourable ground for the arising of hybrid identities and languages. A good example of this fact can be found in the U.S.-Mexico border. Therefore, crossing the border is more than a physical act, because it becomes a fact filled with connotations and consequences. Passing over the limit can be, as I will analyze in this article, a translation act in which the individual often has to translate himself in every aspect.
