Abstract

This paper analyses the work of the French Huguenot poet Du Bartas, who in 1578 wrote a long heroic poem of some 6000 Alexandrine lines inspired on the Genesis: La Première Sepmaine ou la Création du monde. It belongs lo a kind of scientific poetry that embraces the whole of the Renaissance cosmological science which made a great impact on Europe in this time and had an outstanding influence on the English poet Anne Bradstreet, who migrated to America.
